This class is an introduction to audio journalism and podcast production. Students will acquire the practical skills necessary to produce quality podcasts as they learn about sound recording, audio workflow, interviewing techniques, recording actuality, building episodes, scripting, editing and mixing sound, publishing and promoting their podcasts and critically reviewing their own work and that of the class. Students are encouraged to develop ideas and concepts for podcasts that suit their personal voices, style and experience. Podcasts produced in this class are published on the Peacock student media platform.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Capacity to record and edit audio to broadcast standard. 
  2. Mastery of interview techniques. 
  3. Capacity to develop story ideas and translate them into audio.
